Senior attorney Melanie Hogg is a Nashville native who returned to practice law after she gained national perspective on family law issues practicing in Vermont, New Hampshire, North Carolina and in Georgia, where she was certified as a Family Law Specialist. Since joining us at Held Law Firm, Melanie has further developed her skills by becoming a Rule 31 listed mediator and a certified Collaborative Law attorney.
Melanie Hogg’s particular skill is thinking creatively to design settlements that maximize opportunities for the entire family after the divorce is finalized. “Obviously, my job is to protect my clients’ interest, first and foremost. But I often find that, through thorough investigation followed by careful and creative thinking, we can craft a plan that reduces conflict and creates opportunities for better overall family interactions after the divorce than the couples experienced before.”
Utilizing her multi-state perspective and training in mediation and collaborative law, Melanie focuses on Held Law Firm’s clients who have substantial financial assets, utilizing the advice of financial advisors and accountants to create economic outcomes that benefit both parties. She is also known for her creative approach to crafting Permanent Parenting Plans, often utilizing the advice of family counselors, that build on each parent’s strength (rather than the more common approach of focusing on weaknesses and failures). Finally, Melanie also continues her particular interest in law and finances by crafting Qualified Domestic Relations Orders and post-divorce estate plans. “You will never have a more clear picture of your finances than when you complete your divorce through this firm,” Melanie asserts. “It is your best moment to plan for your financial future in a way that serves you now and in the long term.”
“All change is stressful, and divorce more so, but whenever there is change, there is an opportunity to create something new and better.” Melanie is known for her tact and ability to de-escalate the stressful situations that inevitably arise during the divorce process. However, if negotiations are unsuccessful, Melanie’s experience and skills are also effective in the courtroom, and if litigation is required she will be well prepared.
"Melanie did a good job of informing me of options and acted quickly to do what she said she would do. Difficult circumstances made tolerable by efficiency. Thank You. Made a big difference in my future."
